🍎 cereal + 📐 math = 🧠 a total breakthrough!
Ms. Jackson’s 3rd graders conquered a tricky math topic this week: the Distributive Property!
After learning the concept, students built their own array models using Fruit Loops and Apple Jacks, then used popsicle sticks to physically break the arrays apart and solve the parts.
Hands-on learning makes all the difference! Huge high-fives to our 3rd graders for working hard and mastering a tough concept! 👏✨

Future Community Helpers in Action! Mrs. Williams' Pre-K class loved dressing up as their future dream careers and spending the day stepping into the shoes of doctors and veterinarians. 🧸🩹
Here’s a look at what our mini-medics were up to:
💥Tweezers & Splinters: Precision practice rescuing stuffed animal paws.
💥Alphabet Bandages: Matching letters while healing broken limbs and wounds.
💥Baby Hospital: Caring for babies and examining pretend bones.
💥Sensory Syringes: Sucking up vinegar and launching it into a baking soda and red paint sensory bin for a fun chemical reaction! 🧪
All these hands-on activities double as fantastic fine-motor exercises to strengthen little hands for better pencil and scissor grips.
Our first graders had a wonderful time celebrating International Dot Day! Students explored creativity, courage, and the power of making their own unique mark. From colorful dots to creative designs, our classrooms were filled with imagination and joy!

K--4th grade families are invited to join us for our Annual Title 1 Meeting and Family Literacy Night on Thursday, October 1st, 5:30--7:00 P.M.
Ms. Bennett’s class had a bushel of fun diving into some hands-on apple art projects last week! 🍎 From vibrant prints to colorful crafts, our little artists sure know how to make learning sweet.
Sugarmill Elementary School joined forces with local military members today for a special flag-raising ceremony to honor the lives lost on 9/11. A guest service member spoke to the students about the deep meaning of lowering the flag to half-staff, teaching them how we pay tribute to fallen heroes. Students then filled the air with patriotism as they sang "God Bless the U.S.A." and clapped in reverence as the flag was raised.
Today, we pause to remember.

Music met literacy at the library today! 🎵 Mrs. Gianchetti’s 1st graders joined our media specialist Ms. Smith for a fun session of musical tracing during their library special. The kids loved grooving to the rhythm while practicing their fine motor and pre-writing skills! ✏️

SES students turned into math detectives this week, using caution tape and evidence bags to solve a mystery. To catch the culprit, they had to decode clues by mastering place value through a series of task cards. Way to go, detectives! 🕵️♂️🔍☕
