Dear Sugarmill Elementary Families,
Welcome to a new school year at Sugarmill Elementary!
Whether you are returning to our school family or joining us for the very first time, we are excited to welcome you to another year of learning, growth, and new opportunities. We are honored that you have entrusted us with your child's education, and we look forward to partnering with you to make this school year a successful and memorable one.
Our theme this year is SES Stronger Together. It reflects our belief that the greatest success happens when students, families, and school staff work together with a shared purpose. Every child thrives when they feel supported, encouraged, and connected by the people who care most about them.
At Sugarmill Elementary, we are committed to creating a school where every student feels safe, valued, challenged, and inspired. We strive to build strong relationships with our students and families because we know that a positive school culture is the foundation for academic success and personal growth.
Throughout the year, you will see our theme come to life as we focus on three simple but meaningful ideas:
Support – We will support every child by providing high-quality instruction, fostering meaningful relationships, and creating a safe, caring learning environment.
Encourage – We will celebrate successes, help students learn from challenges, and encourage them to believe in themselves while cheering one another on.
Succeed – Together, we will help every child grow academically, socially, and emotionally while preparing them for future success.
Open and consistent communication is one of the most important ways we can work together. We encourage you to stay connected by reading and classroom newsletters, checking your child's folder or agenda each day, responding to messages from your child's teacher, and reaching out whenever you have questions or concerns. When we communicate early and often, we can celebrate successes, address challenges, and ensure every child receives the support they need.
As we begin the school year, we also ask that you take time to review the Sugarmill Elementary Student & Family Handbook with your child. The handbook contains important information about school policies and procedures, attendance, transportation, student expectations, safety, dress code, and other guidelines that help our school run smoothly. Understanding these expectations from the start helps create a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment for everyone.

Your partnership is one of the greatest gifts we can give our students. We encourage you to attend school events, participate in family engagement opportunities, volunteer when you are able, read with your child each day, and celebrate both big accomplishments and small victories along the way. When school and home work together, children gain confidence, develop a love of learning, and reach their fullest potential.
As principal, I am committed to ensuring Sugarmill Elementary is a place where students are excited to learn, families feel welcomed, and every member of our school community feels respected and valued. My door is always open, and I encourage you to reach out with questions, ideas, or concerns. Together, we can continue building a school community where every child can thrive.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your support. I am looking forward to an incredible school year filled with learning, laughter, growth, and lasting memories.
Together, we are stronger. Together, we will make this our best year yet.
Welcome to the SES family!
Warmly,
Terri Slattery, Principal
