Georgia Pre-K Week is Almost Here! 🎉

Sugarmill Elementary is celebrating Georgia Pre-K Week from October 5th – 9th! We have a fun-filled week planned for our students. Here is the schedule for our thematic dress-up and activity days:

📚 Monday, 10/5: Dress as your favorite book character!

🌱 Tuesday, 10/6: Classroom Planting Day!

💼 Wednesday, 10/7: Future Day! Dress up as what you want to be when you grow up.

👟 Thursday, 10/8: Fun Run Day! Wear active clothes and sneakers, ready to run!

🚨 Friday, 10/9: Teacher Workday — NO SCHOOL for students.

We can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity and school spirit all week long! 🦅✨

Future Community Helpers in Action! Mrs. Williams' Pre-K class loved dressing up as their future dream careers and spending the day stepping into the shoes of doctors and veterinarians. 🧸🩹

Here’s a look at what our mini-medics were up to:
💥Tweezers & Splinters: Precision practice rescuing stuffed animal paws.
💥Alphabet Bandages: Matching letters while healing broken limbs and wounds.
💥Baby Hospital: Caring for babies and examining pretend bones.
💥Sensory Syringes: Sucking up vinegar and launching it into a baking soda and red paint sensory bin for a fun chemical reaction! 🧪

All these hands-on activities double as fantastic fine-motor exercises to strengthen little hands for better pencil and scissor grips.

Our first graders had a wonderful time celebrating International Dot Day! Students explored creativity, courage, and the power of making their own unique mark. From colorful dots to creative designs, our classrooms were filled with imagination and joy!

We loved seeing each student’s personality shine through their artwork and celebrating the idea that everyone can make a difference—one dot at a time!

Sugarmill Elementary School joined forces with local military members today for a special flag-raising ceremony to honor the lives lost on 9/11. A guest service member spoke to the students about the deep meaning of lowering the flag to half-staff, teaching them how we pay tribute to fallen heroes. Students then filled the air with patriotism as they sang "God Bless the U.S.A." and clapped in reverence as the flag was raised.
