🦖🦕 Kindergarten Dino Adventure! 🦕🦖 Last week, our Sugarmill Kindergarteners went back in time and explored the fascinating world of dinosaurs! They: 🔍 Dug deep as paleontologists to uncover fossils. 🎨 Created their own dinosaur fossils. 📚 Learned all about different types of dinosaurs. ✏️ Wrote creative stories and waited all week to see what would hatch from the mysterious eggs! 🥚✨ Our hallways were transformed into a prehistoric paradise, and even our amazing teachers joined the fun by dressing up as dinos! 🦕 What an awesome way to head into spring break! Great job, little explorers! 🦖 #DinoWeek #Stegasaurus #TRex #SESEaglesSoar #SugarmillEagles #SpringBreakVibes #Eagles

3rd grade student Bradley Hanson saw a need at his school and gathered his friends to help.  Bradley noticed that the blustery weather had scattered trash around the playground.   During an afternoon class meeting, he asked his friends to help clean the playground.  They made a list of tools they needed and a date to complete the project. Thanks to Bradley and his friends in Mrs. Brooks' class, our playground is clean once again.  Bradley's tip is to remember not to litter. SES is so proud of students like Bradley who pitch in to make our school great!

**Celebrating the Support of the SES PTO!** At Sugarmill Elementary, we truly believe that our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is the best around! Their incredible generosity continues to impact our students in meaningful ways. Recently, they supplied our media center with brand-new t-shirts for the Extreme Readers' Club, and we couldn’t be more grateful! The Extreme Readers' Club is an inspiring initiative aimed at encouraging our 2nd to 5th graders to dive into the world of nonfiction literature. By reading about a variety of topics, students expand their knowledge and develop a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. To earn an official Extreme Readers' Club shirt, students must complete rigorous requirements—a challenge that inspires them to push their reading abilities to new heights. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the SES PTO for their unwavering support and commitment to enriching our students' educational experiences. Your contributions make a difference every day, and we are excited to see our young readers proudly wearing their new shirts as they embark on their literary journeys. Thank you for being such incredible champions of our school's mission!

📅✨ 2nd Grade Eagles Soared Through Their Timeline Projects! ✨📅 Our 2nd grade students recently wrapped up learning about biographies with a special timeline project—and they did an amazing job! 🦅💙 Students created timelines of their own lives, highlighting at least five significant events with dates and sentences explaining each one. From birthdays and family trips to learning how to ride a bike and playing sports, they showcased some truly special moments! 🎂🚲🏆 To make their timelines even more personal, students illustrated or added real pictures to bring their memories to life! Several students even had the opportunity to present their posters in class—what a fun way to practice chronological order and storytelling! 📖✨ We are so proud of our Eagles for their hard work and creativity! A huge THANK YOU to our amazing families for supporting your students with this project, and a special shoutout to our incredible 2nd grade teachers for their guidance and dedication. ❤️ #SESEagles #TimelineProjects #SESEaglesSoar #ProudTeacherMoments

🔬🌱🧫 Exploring Cells in 5th Grade Science! 🧫🌱🔬 Mrs. Hutchinson’s 5th-grade scientists took on an exciting challenge in science class! 🧪💡 Tasked with helping Professor Mike Roscope in the Discovery Lab, students had to sort mixed-up plant and animal cell slides using their knowledge of cell structures. 👀🔬 Through hands-on investigation and critical thinking, students identified key differences between plant and animal cells—like cell walls and chloroplasts in plant cells! 🌿 vs. 🐾 Check out these amazing young scientists in action! 👇📸 Great job, 5th graders! 💙💡 Science Standard: S5L3- Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to compare and contrast the parts of plant and animal cells. #FutureScientists #HandsOnLearning #STEMinAction #SugarmillSuperstars #SESEaglesSoar #SugarmillElementary

🦅✨ 4th Grade Eagles Take Learning to the Next Level! ✨🦅 Today, our incredible 4th grade students in Dr. Mitchell's Math class showcased their food chain projects—and WOW, were they amazing! 🎉 Some students created colorful posters, while others built impressive 3D models, but every project was unique and full of creativity. Students are working on the learning target: 📌 I can develop a model to represent the roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers. Just yesterday, these Eagles took a trip to Cumberland Island, where they explored real-world habitats, including wetlands—right in our own backyard here in Camden! 🌿🌊 They made powerful connections between math and science as they discussed ecosystems, producers, primary and secondary consumers, decomposers, and habitats, and the roles of different organisms. After their presentations, students reflected on their learning through writing, showcasing their knowledge in multiple ways. These Eagles SOARED today with their explanations, creativity, and teamwork! 🚀 👏 Great job, 4th grade! And a huge thank you to Dr. Mitchell for leading the way in making learning meaningful and engaging! #SESEaglesSoar #4thGradeMath #FoodChains #SugarmillElementary #GoEagles #Habitats #ScienceandMath

📚🏈✨ A Magical Morning at Sugarmill! ✨🏈📚 On Thursday, February 13, we had a very special visitor—Malcom Mitchell! 🎉 Because our school won the ReadMarathon in the fall, Malcom came to celebrate with us in an unforgettable way! Every Sugarmill Eagle received a copy of his book, The Magician’s Hat, and we had an amazing time tossing the football, listening to Malcom read his story, and hearing his inspiring journey of learning to read. Plus, we even got to see a magician perform some incredible tricks! 🎩✨ What a fantastic morning filled with books, reading, football, and magic! 📖🏆 Our Eagles did such a great job. 💙💛 Thank you Mrs. Coshland for these amazing photos! See our "Malcom Mitchell" photo album on Facebook for more.
