5th Grade Social Studies Fun! 🍬✈️

Last week, our 5th graders wrapped up their Cold War unit by learning about Colonel Gail Halvorsen — also known as “The Candy Bomber.” Students researched his kindness mission and the candy drop project, then put their learning into action by designing, building, and testing their own candy parachutes!

The goal? Get their candy to float gently to the ground… and once they succeeded, they enjoyed a sweet reward! 🍭

Hands-on learning + history + engineering + teamwork = a memorable day in Mrs. Thompson’s class! 💙

Hello Sugarmill Family! 🦃💛💙

We are overwhelmed with gratitude — thanks to your generosity, our Thanksgiving Food Drive collected nearly 3,000 items! These donations will go directly to supporting families right here in Camden, and we could not be more thankful for the kindness shown by our Sugarmill community.

This is just one of the many ways our school continuously shows love, support, and a giving spirit. We are so proud to be part of a community that takes care of one another.

Sugarmill is truly something special. 💛💙

🕷 Spider Soup in First Grade! 🕸

Our first graders in Mrs. Renshaw’s class have been learning all about animal adaptations and what animals need to survive! Last Friday, students participated in a hands-on science experiment to simulate how spiders liquify their prey before eating.

The bowl acted as the spider’s web, the sugar cube was the “prey,” and the water represented the spider’s special digestive enzymes (or as the kids called it… spider slobber! 😄).

Learning is so much more fun when we can see it and try it! 🧠✨
Way to go, Eagles! 💙
