🎒📚 Attendance Awareness Month is here! 🌟 Let's come together to highlight the importance of regular school attendance. Did you know that students who attend school consistently are more likely to achieve academic success and build strong social skills? 🏫✨ Families, teachers, and students – let's work hand in hand to ensure our children are present, engaged, and ready to learn every single day! Here are a few tips to promote good attendance: Set a Routine: Establish a consistent sleep schedule and morning routine. Create a Positive Environment: Encourage a love for learning at home. Communicate: Keep an open line of communication between parents and teachers. Support: Offer help when students face challenges that may hinder attendance. Together, we can make a difference! Let's celebrate #AttendanceAwarenessMonth by committing to being present and making every school day count. 🌟📖 #BElieveinCAMDEN #WeAreCamden #AttendanceMatters #EveryStudentEveryDay #AttendTodayAchieveTomorrow #BePresentBePowerful

Today we had our PBIS Kickoff Pep Rally. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports which is a program that recognizes positive contributions of students. Students learned about the school wide expectations which are Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be Respectful. When a student is observed meeting and exceeding these expectations, they may receive a Bulldog Buck which they can spend on rewards in their classroom or at the PBIS store. Together, we can create a fun and supportive environment where everyone can thrive! Proud to be MLG!

Our 2nd graders have been learning about how they can be a good citizen and make a difference to others. They learned all about different ways to be a good citizen and why it’s important. Our students created certificates to present to someone in their life that they felt was a good citizen and made a difference to them. Keep up the great work!

Labor Day REMINDER
Students at Mamie Lou Gross have the opportunity to participate in STEM class as one of their specials this year! STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In this class, students collaborate to solve problems, think critically to find solutions, and use their creativity to develop new items. Mamie Lou Gross has partnered with DoD STEM FIRST to get LEGO kits for our students to use in STEM class. These kits allow the student options to free build, but also options to learn about coding and LEGO robotics. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade created LEGO mazes in STEM class last week. These mazes included obstacles to make it even more challenging. Great work students!

Dear Families, Attendance is an essential component to a student’s academic success. Georgia State Compulsory Attendance Law (O.C.G.A. 20-2.690.1) provides reasons that your child may be excused from school. However, having excessive absences, excused or unexcused, can prohibit your child from reaching his or her maximum potential at school. Although tardies and early dismissals are not categorized as absences, they can also prohibit your child from reaching his or her academic potential and cause significant gaps in learning. Please understand that we have instruction going on in classrooms or specials classes occurring until around 3:10. If a student leaves 30 minutes early each day, that equates to over 12 days of school being missed in a given year. Early dismissal at MLG is intended to allow parents to pick their children up for appointments, special occasions, or other urgent matters only. It is not meant to be the daily dismissal routine for our students. (We are already working with families that have specific medical needs.) Starting on Tuesday, September 3rd, we will not release students on a daily basis prior to regular dismissal at 3:15. Please use the car line for pick up each day instead of reporting to the office. If you arrive closer to 3:25 you will avoid most of the car rider traffic. We have pick-up flowing very smoothly and are usually wrapping up just after 3:30. The front office staff will be posting signs to remind everyone of this change. We appreciate your help and patience as we continue making MLG the best school it can be!
