Sugarmill Elementary will host the following events to build the capacity for strong parental involvement to support a partnership among the school, parents and the community to improve student academic achievement.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Sugarmill Elementary School is a Title I school, and as the parent/guardian of a child attending a Title I school you are an important part of the Title I team. Your input is vital in the planning and implementation of the parent involvement program and activities in our school. The focus of all Title I programs is to help eligible students meet the same high academic achievement standards expected of all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status and background. The following survey is confidential and will be used to assist us with future planning for parental involvement activities and events at  Sugarmill Elementary.

Media Center Houses Parent Resource Materials

Parents are encouraged to visit our Media Center to take advantage of our Parent Resource Collection (PRC). The collection consists of a variety of books and educational activities aimed at aiding parents to help students develop a mastery of all grade level standards. The PRC is open from 8:30 - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.

NOTICE REGARDING TEACHER/PARAPROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

In compliance with the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act, parents may request the following information: 1. Whether the student’s teacher A. has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction; B. is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived, and Elementary Student Handbook Page 14 C. is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher. 2. Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

Title I Resources

Title I

Title I is a part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which provides federal funds through the Georgia Department of Education to local educational agencies (LEAs) and public schools with high numbers or percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards. 

Title I Parent Resource Center

The Parent Resource Center is located in the Media Center. Parents are encouraged to open a Media Account and check out materials from the Parent Resource Center and the Media Collection for use with their children. The media center is open from 7:35 am - 3:15 pm Monday through Friday.
