Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!
Dear Sugarmill Families,
We are excited to begin our new school year on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. We would like to extend a special
welcome to all of the new families joining Sugarmill this year and welcome back all of our returning families! I am
honored to be your principal and excited to lead at Sugarmill Elementary. As your principal, I look forward each day
to building and strengthening relationships with students and families.
Student success is attributed to the partnership and the relationships we build within our community. It truly does
take a village and at Sugarmill we value teamwork and collaboration! Education is a joint venture and we greatly
appreciate the support you provide for your children to help them meet their learning goals. Without the support
of parent volunteers we would not have been able to provide many of our learning tools and celebrations. Thanks in
advance for all you do to support our school!! Be sure to join our awesome PTO.
We are dedicated to providing your child(ren) a high quality, memorable, interactive, learning experience. Our staff
plans engaging experiences in order to build connections with their students and to help foster new relationships
with their peers. We will be focusing on all the positives in our school daily, and as the role models in our little
eagles’ lives it is important that we display a positive attitude towards learning each and every day. I encourage you
to do the same at home, and please reach out to your teachers. They are there to support your family.
As partners, we ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college

will find it a valuable resource. You will find general information about the school including school calendars,
enrollment information, lunch menus, bus routes, contact information for all staff, and information on a variety of
resources and programs available to students and families.
For learning to take place, it is imperative that we have a safe environment that is supportive and conducive for
growth. By setting forth clear social and behavioral expectations and directly teaching students about those
expectations, it is our goal to create a positive atmosphere for optimal learning. These are the behavioral
